Walking
There are many spectacular walks around Pumzika. The rich soil of the Shimba Hills is quite red and the murram roads are smooth, dusty and mostly free from traffic. They are lined with trees, flowering plants and small fields growing maize. Small thatched cottages made of mud hide in the vegetation and around them small children can be seen playing. Turn left at the gate and a four kilometers brings you to the end of the ridge where you can see Mombasa or three kilometers down through the forest you get to a sacred waterfall where you can swim. The other way takes you to the village of Kwale where there are banks, shops and a very active market.
